We are excited to announce that Dr. Alicia Sheng will be joining our office team starting July 2024! Many of you know Dr. Sheng from her time here as an elective resident, and we are thrilled to have her back as an independently practising family physician. Dr. Carson has known Dr. Sheng for many years and has full confidence in her capabilities. Dr. Sheng, who completed her undergraduate studies at Western University and attended medical school at the University of Ottawa, has recently completed her family medicine residency at Markham-Stouffville Hospital and the University of Toronto. Like Dr. Carson, she has a keen interest in sport and exercise medicine. Dr. Sheng will be fully involved in all aspects of patient care including well-baby checks, PAP tests, and more.
With Dr. Sheng joining our practice, we will be able to increase our appointment availability each week, ensuring that more patients receive timely care. Please note that while Dr. Carson is not retiring and will continue to be your family physician for the foreseeable future, the addition of Dr. Sheng will allow him to take some well-deserved time to recharge, allowing him to remain sharp and energised for his work. During Dr. Carson's vacation weeks, Dr. Sheng will be available to provide continuity of care. We appreciate your understanding and support as we make this transition to better serve all of our patients.
With a doctor and some patients and staff who may be at greater risk of respiratory illness, we will still see most patients in the office. However if you have a fever / cough / respiratory illness, the best place for you to be assessed is at https://www.oakvalleyhealth.ca/clinics-departments/covid-19-cold-and-flu-care-clinic or at a similar clinic at a hospital near your home or workplace.
Oak Valley Health is the new corporate name for Markham Stouffville Hospital and the Uxbridge Cottage Hospital.
Please ensure that both your nose and mouth are covered unless instructed by the doctor to remove your mask.
Since the start of the pandemic, availability of many health services, prompt referral appointments and indeed many medications at your pharmacy, has been restricted beyond our control. Please be extra courteous with our staff as they are trying their hardest to meet your health needs.
Dr. Carson is proud to inform patients that the Proactive Preventative Care Program in our office has been awarded a Quality and Innovation award by the Department of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Toronto. Patients schedule a phone screening call with Carolyn (PC1) and then after tests are completed, you come into the office for a shorter PC2 visit with Dr. Carson. In this way we can provide you with the best advice on screening tests, immunizations and healthy lifestyle choices, so that together we can optimize your health.
